Before joining Ivy House, I worked for a Local Authority for 21 years. My passion has always been working with children and families where I have had roles as a youth worker and in front line child protections teams. In addition, I spent several years fostering for the Local Authority.

Andrea Combes
Hi, I’m Andrea Combes. I have been a Qualified Social Worker for 22 years, before this I cared for children in residential home settings.
My first Social Work role was in a Children’s Disability Team where I undertook Children in Need, Looked After Children and Child Protection duties. From there I went to work at the NSPCC for 12 years as a Therapeutic Practitioner, helping children to recover from abuse. I then moved to work within a Therapeutic Team for a Local Authority, specialising in support for Foster Carers and Looked After Children.
I am eager to bring my experience and enthusiasm for all things therapeutic to the Ivy House Team. I am committed to supporting children to overcome their difficult starts in life and I believe that Foster Carers are key to this. Through their care of and relationships with the children, Foster Carers can help children begin to feel safe in the world and trust again.
Outside of work I am a Mum of 3 and I enjoy strength training, dancing and time with good friends 😍
